Transmission Concerns
So, I have a 2013 Chrysler 200 v6. We bought the car about a year ago and have put about 20k miles on the vehicle. During that whole time, the transmission has been questionable, but it has NOT gotten any worse during this time. I was wondering about the possibility of the fluid being junk the car has 128k miles on it.. The car shifts normally in lower gears but in higher gears the shifts are delayed, also a bit rough downshifting from higher gears. Also, sometimes when putting the car into drive from reverse, it's rough and can clunk sometimes. There is no warning lights on the dash or anything related to that. Any suggestions? Or is the car okay?
I would suggest the first order of business should be a transmission pan drop, filter replace and refill with licensed atf+4 only. These transmission like fresh atf+4. About 5 1/2 quarts are needed so get 6. A flush is not necessary. ATF+4 only, no universal fluids, no additives.
The pan drop will allow for an inspection. A fuzzy magnet is ok as is a gray film on the pan. Metal chunks are not ok.
It may take a week or so for the trans to 'learn' the new atf+4.
