troubleshooting a 95 sebring lx ecu problems

hey forum, I recently purchased a 1995 sebring lxi 2.5L v6, and found out that it has 2 ecu's. The check engine light came on so I took it to a mechanic. He plugged it in to his code computer with no sucsess. Is there an easy fix for this (like buyinga new ecu?) and has anyone else heard of anything like this? If anyone knows of a website where i can find some more info on early sebrings, please post a link.

thanks,
Eddie

I don't think there are two ecu's on that car. The unit nearer the front is the ecu. The one next to it is the transmission control unit. Have you tried pulling codes with the key ON-OFF method? With the engine NOT running, turn the key to ON, OFF, ON, OFF, ON. That should start the check engine light blinking. It will blink on a certain number of times, then pause and blink again. The first set represents the first digit of a two digit code, the second is the second digit. (two blinks - pause - three blinks = 23).
Try hooking up an OBD II meter to the car. Though it's a 95 it should read it.
