water in oil

Ive got a 03 Sebring w/2.7. Theres water in the oil pan. Now usually this would indicate that There may be a blown head gasket or some other damage to the head. so i proceeded to tear into the questionable engine and discovered that there was no indication of water in any of the intake or exhaust runners, non in the cylinders or on the plugs. i was told it never over heated but used a lot of water. Due to the location of the water pump is it possible that the water pump went south and was dumping into the oil pan?

yes common issue water pump leaking right into the oil

Mostly its the water pump gasket that's the culprit.

The water pump has 2 weep holes that leak externally when the actual pump itself fails.

The 2.7 is a great Engine if the gasket issue is caught before filling up or sludging the crankcase.

Thanks
Randy

Yup, Water Pump is the common culprit on the 2.7 with coolant in the oil.
Timing Chain guides should be included in the repair.
Loads of great information and help here : https://www.dodgeintrepid.net/
Very knowledgeable on the 2.7 on that site.
