water in the oil, possible water pump? help

ok, i sold my mother in law our old car (her truck passed away with a rod knock, which i now own as payment for the car)

the car sat for about 3 months in the yard while she was gone to visit other family,

when she got back she called me and said it was smoking, from the hood.

i checked it and there was some oily type residue around the radiator and valve cover (milky looking) the oil was milky looking as well, so i went to change the oil, (i can not get the oil plug out), but while i was figuring out what to do about the plug i topped off the coolant jug, a few a minutes later i noticed the level was back down (in the jug), BUT THE OIL LEVEL ROSE!

so from what i have read, the water pump can fail either external leak, or internal?
i drove the car about 2 miles to my house to change the oil, but will probably not drive it back since i cant change the oil!!!!!! but it did not steam or smoke, it ran fine with no issues no warning lights no noises,

can this pump leak into the oil,or do i need to look for any other problem?

please help, this is my mother in law and i really need to help her.

thanks
mark
