New to us 2008 Sebring convertible 2.4l. I finally broke down and let the wife get a convertible she has wanted for years. Long story short when I was looking at a Dakota to replace my ageing S10 there was this showroom clean Sebring convertible there. We ended up taking the Dakota and Sebring home. While the car is just about as perfect as you can get 1 minor electrical issue. When turning the blinker on sometimes the wipers will briefly come on. kind of weird. Any suggestions? Off this topic anything to watch for with the 2.4l. This one only has 66,000 on it

 

Sounds like the multifunction switch is a little overly sensitive. The multifunction switch is a complicated piece of equipment in the steering column that controls the turn signals, wipers, headlights, etc. If you spin the stalk while turning on the turn signal, you might get the wipers to come on. It could just be a matter of being a little bit more careful when doing this. Replacement of the switch is not too difficult, I think it's held in place by a couple of torx screws accessible from underneath the steering column. Check for availability of an aftermarket unit before paying dealer prices.

 

Thanks for the info. Its happened to the wife a couple times. I cannot recreate the symptom. If it gets worse thats what I will check.
