What adhesive to use?

2001 Convertible.

Nobody at the website I will be purchasing from has told me that what I want comes with the means to attach it to my vehicle. So, anyone out there know what I will have to buy in case they do not come with what I need?

I'm buying a water shield for the doors and the black strip that runs along the top interior of the door.

Thanks

The water shield comes with a strip of sealant attached already. You peel off the backing and stick it on.
That black strip is part of the door trim panel It's stapled in place. You might be able to epoxy it back if you can be careful with the glue. I would recommend pulling out all the old staples first as they will get in the way.

Thanks, dcotter. I feel safe enough ordering the water shields. I'll have to take another look at that strip, but I swear it has adhesive on the bottom. Maybe my mechanic used that to cover his earlier mistake.

If you don't know how to properly remove the door trim panel, and you pull it away from the door rather than lifting it up after undoing the clips, you will tear off that strip. That's what the previous owner of my car did. He then proceeded to tear apart the water shield. I bought a new watershield which came with the adhesive attached. I didn't want to shell out the $ for the new trim panel, so I pulled out all the staples and epoxied the strip back onto the trim panel. So far (about a year and a half later), it's still holding.

Well, my strip had the metal core all bent out of shape and the plastic broken, so I ordered the relatively costly strip. The old one was never going to look right.

Where did you find the strip alone as a part?

Unless I wound up ordering the wrong thing (possible, since nobody responded to my inquiry)
