Wired idle on 2013 chrysler 200 touring 2.4L
Im having a weird idle on my car, It doesn't happen all the time. However after the cold idle which is around 1k it will either drop and sit steady at around 700-800 rpm or go weird and fluctuate between 500 to 800 rpm making noise while doing so, other then the weird idle the car will jolt lightly at speed on rare occasion. No warning lights are on, and everything else is operating fine. Please help, any info is much appreciated

Could you please give a little history(mileage, any maint. done like spark plugs)?
There are a couple things that can cause an RPM fluctuation, like a dirty or worn ETC/throttle body, a cracked PCV valve(common happening) or an intake manifold gasket leak. Also a real common cause can be from an A/C system that's a little low on refrigerant charge, and operating the car in A/C mode or Defrost mode thus having the A/C compressor kicking in and out too frequently and affecting idle. |
I got the car just before winter, it started to happen about a month after I got it. When winter hit I parked it. Got it back out about 2 months ago. Has just under 110k miles and as far as I can tell everything else works great. I've never had a loss of cold air. No tics inside involving the a/c heat sensors. Is cleaning the gunk pretty easy to do?

The throttle body is not hard to remove and clean, there's a number of you tube videos on that to help you along and the Dodge Avenger is the SAME in looking for info. I would also suggest some new spark plugs and add some fuel system cleaner to the fuel tank. No "ticks" is NOT from HVAC sensors...they are the HVAC actuators that move the various doors for heat blend, position, and internal/external(recirculation)air draw. |
