2004 300m - Inspecting the timing belt?

Hey all! I'm looking at purchasing a 2004 300m and have one concern...

How labour intensive is it to check the condition of the timing belt on a Chrysler 3.5l engine?

This 300m is in excellent shape. The car is at 181,000kms (113,000 miles) so it's either the belt has been done recently or is due.

Unfortunately, the seller doesn't have the history for the car. We are purchasing the car from a reputable body shop and this is an insurance reclaim - all the repair work looks great and there is no frame damage, etc.

So, what should I expect to be charged to have someone check the timing belt?

Thanks!

Inspection will tell you very little if anything about the belt. Every one I have changed (many) "look like new"
The only observation I have seen is that every OEM factory original has had "orange" lettering on it and replacements are usually green or blue.
Bottom line if you are unsure plan on replacing it. It is overdue and the engine can be trashed if it fails.
Prices will vary, most shops will be around 6 hours of labor plus parts.
Many discussions even a video "how to" if you are a little DIY skilled

I would do it myself if I had a garage in which to work, but unfortunately I don't.

Local shop quoted me three hours labour in his book for the belt/pump/pulley/tensioner. Definitely a good deal. Right now I'm just waiting to see what he'll charge for parts as opposed to ordering them online.

A Gates TCKWP295C kit will cost me about $230 CAD shipped to my door from eBay.
