2006 300 cabin air filter - no housing means no filter?
 

Hello everyone. New to this forum, but not new to the idea. I am on a filter kick lately, and I went to change the cabin air filter in our 300. It is the base model with the 2.7L engine. I opened the cover for the cabin air filter, and I didn't see any housing at all, but there was an air filter just dropped down into the space. So, I have the following questions - 1 - Did all of the 2006 models come with a cabin air filter? If not, I guess I don't need to worry about it any more. 2 - If this was supposed to have one, where can I get the housing that should hold the filter in place? Now that I post it, I assume I can get if from the local junk yard. Has anyone else experienced this before? I didn't see it in the forums as an already posted question or issue. Thanks all!

Update - This has been nagging at me for a while. I did more digging. I found a part number that looks right (4806294AD) that seems right, but there are versions with and without the filter. I grabbed screen shots of both diagrams and they look exactly the same. From the diagram and what I see under the hood, I think that I only have part #2 (the basket that holds the rest). I think I need #4 unless that is the air filter itself. Does anyone with an air filter installed be able to take a photo of the inside with the filter out? I will post a photo tomorrow of my car.
