2006 300 tail lights not working
 

I have a 2006 300 touring and the tail lights keep blowing the fuse. I have changed the bulbs and fuse they will work for a little while then the same thing they blow the fuse. My brake lights work fine. any help would be great. thanx Robb

You probably have a short in the wiring someplace. Try inspecting the wiring very carefully along as much of its length as you can. Check the bulb sockets and connectors too. Check especially carefully where the wires pass through a metal wall. You are looking for signs that the insulation is rubbed off and the bare wires can contact sheet metal. There might be an indication of burning or melting. If the car was ever repaired due to an accident back there, then there's a good chance the wiring was damaged. Even if not, a wire harness may have been pushed aside somehow and began rubbing on something. If you find something, you'll need to tape the individual wire if it isn't damaged too much. If it's burned badly, then cut out the bad section and splice in a replacement piece properly. There are crimp fittings that can be used, but I would prefer to solder in the replacement piece. Be sure to tape and/or use shrink fit tubing to insulate the repair.

Thats the sort of thing I'd take straight to the dealer to get fixed. They can check their diagnostics and hopefully find the cause!

i have this problem too. Crandell87, are your front running lights out too? If you're popping that fuse in the front-center of the fuse box, I'd guess that they are, since mine are out as well.

Does yours seem to be ok when it's dry? Mine seems to have been fine for a few months during the summer and yesterday the wife was driving around in the snow and slush and they went out. The last time it happened was on a 3-hour trip in the rain back in April.

We also replaced all the bulbs (at the dealer's suggestion), apparently to no avail. The delaer syas that the bulbs were getting old and drawing too much current for the circuit, but I put a 40A fuse and that blew right away too, so I don't think they're correct. Unless the bulbs need to be replaced every year, which seems silly. Anyone else has any ideas... I'm all ears.
