2012 Chrysler 300 - Coolant / Overheat Issue

Hello,

First time posting here as I've got an issue I hope someone here can help with. I have a 2012 300 with the 3.6 VVT engine that has 104k miles. Recently started to notice the coolant temperate running hot and loss of coolant. When the coolant was low you could here it gurgling / bubbling in the overflow reservoir. Went today to have the coolant system pressure checked which showed no coolant leaks or loss of pressure indicator potential head gasket failure. Last month I replaced the oil cooler (fun job) and the thermostat.

Any ideas or suggestions on what to look at next? This one has me stumped.

Appreciate any and all help.

Thanks
Mike

Did you replace the thermostat before or after this problem started ? It not clear in your post. If it was before you gotta ask yourself if you got that thermostat in upside down.

I replaced the thermostat and oil cooler at the same time - car has been running fine after which was a month or so ago.

Well in that case perhaps you have a clogged up radiator .

Another thought. It's not unheard off for new thermostats to go bad and that's the easiest thing to check first.

Did you replace or test the Pressure/Radiator Cap??

Good thought FIREM. An easy and inexpensive check or replacement too. Now is we can just get the 2077 to respond.

Catching up here and ended up being the radiator cap. Every time the coolant was boiling the cap was loose. Quick replacement on it and so far no issues - will keep monitoring as I've only driven about 75 miles so far. Thanks for the help! ×

I Just went through same issues .i did what you did as well an every part of my cooling system chaned water pump twice turned out last thing i did was change out the coolant overflow tank. It was 60 dollar had i did it first i would have saved a bunch of money .
I brought mine to a mechanic tested it the same way pressure tested and nothing to be found . I bought my own tester an it was leaking 1/2 pound over 2 hours . So if they didnt hold pressure on it long it wouldn't show a leake.

My overflow tank had a hairline crack in the neck of tank couldn't see it.
