Chrysler 300, 300C & 300C SRT-8The flagship of the Chrysler lineup offers the driver every bit of class of any European luxury sedan, combined with the availability of the Hemi, the engine which dominated the American Muscle Car Era
3rd annual service, monthly cleaning and quarterly battery maintenance were completed last week. I asked the dealer to address a short list of concerns as well. 10,190 miles, 3/36 expires in October.
1. Headlamp aiming: should have done it myself. Dealer corrected the driver's side - passenger side was too low. Both were too high previously. Corrected myself. 2. Dealer stated it was ok for the brake booster to loose vacuum after sitting for a couple of days. 3. Car rides/drives nearly glass smooth up to 45-50 mph before a very mild vibration creeps in. An improvement but still looking at this. UConnect underwent an automatic update during the same time frame.
This has been an interesting week. Took 300 to a competent, independent shop I've used for years with many vehicles. including the 300. Picked up 300 today - no invoice/bill. Propreitor (head mechanic) stated that he 'didn't do much' and that I was being 'nit picky'.
Owner stated he rebalanced and re-rotated all tires and wheels, only finding the air pressure was too low. Owner stated the I should be running 40 psi cold with these low profile tires, instead of 32 psi recommended on the door sticker and owner's manual. Claims he did nothing with the brake booster and adjoining vacuum lines.
Result? 300 drives and rides better that ever since new. Saw 34 mpg for the first time on the fuel mileage display. 29 miles from the station where I buy 93 E0 to my house; 97% remaining - first time ever.
I also paid the dealer last month to correct the headlamp aiming on top of everything else= FAIL. Corrected it myself. Paid the dealer $364 and change (including routine maintenance and state inspection) - what a bust. Some 'value' in there somewhere I suppose....
I love my vehicles but it pays to be involved and committed. 300 was also cleaned up and refueled today as implied previously. 3
