Broke off Bolt on Sway Bar Bushing Clamp
 

1999 300m.


Was replacing sway bar bushings and broke off the head of one of the bolts for the bushing clamp. Any suggestions for removing it? It's a fairly tight space and the bolt appears to be harden steel.


Is an option to use a left-handed drill? I know there are other options. Just wanted to check on the best method before attempting this and potentially making it worse.

The good news is that this bolt goes thru the "cradle" and is open at the bottom. So at least you can drill up from the bottom to get it out. Bad news is yes the bolt is hard and long....

I drilled out the bolt from the bottom and re-tapped the threads. Couldn't find the same hardened bolt (10mx1.50x50) from any parts store including Chrysler (was told 90+ are backordered on the east coast. Went to a junk yard and took a couple from a wreck. Was able to put the sway bar bushing bracket back on with no problem!
