2007 Aspen Will Sporadically Not Start Then Okay For Months

In June of 2011 we leased an 07 Aspen hemi with 26k miles. All ran great until Oct 2011 while driving back to Texas, from NY. When we stopped for a fill up the 07 Aspen 5.7 Hemi would not start. There was no gas overflow and the engine spun fast with a strong spark. It was about 2am, so we were stuck. Every few minutes I tried again. Eventually it started and ran for a minute or so before stalling again. This process went on for over an hour, and eventually it ran longer and longer until we finally got back on the road an hour and a half later.

When we got home I checked things out, yet never identified the cause. About 6 months later a similar issue occurred after a fill up. This time it was only a stall after starting, then a minor hesitation for a few seconds, then all ran fine.

Has anyone had a similar experience, or heard and know about the problem and a fix?

This one brings back some (unfortunate) memories. I had a 2004 Durango that would do this on occasion and absolutely strand me. It would be fine for weeks, and then just crank and crank with no start.

The dealer replaced the fuel pump, and it was fine for another week or so, then started again. After the third tow to the dealer, they discovered water in an electrical connector that was causing an intermittant short. They blew it out and put some dielectric grease in there, and all was well from that point forward.

Yours IS eventually starting, which tells me there's a fuel delivery issue somewhere along the line. Are you getting any codes?
