Air Con not blowing cold while using Cruise Control?

i have a 2007 Aspen...ive not had it for long, only since December 2010...

i took my first long trip in it over the weekend and after about 50 miles of using the cruise control the air conditioning stopped blowing cold air...it pretty much stopped blowing air at all, even when i turned it all the way up...

i stopped at a gas station, got something and got back in...i turned the air on before i left and it was working just fine...so its not an air conditioning problem...

i set off again, used the cruise control and then again, after about 50 miles the air went out again...no cold air and not blowing much at all...

is this a problem that anyone else has had?

any remedy? do i need to take it in? or is it just the way that car works to give better milage?

i sure hope not...cause riding in the south in the summer for long distances sucks with no air!

That sounds like a problem. Were you using auto, or manual control? Inside, or outside air? I'd set it on manual control, and set the air to recirculate...try again. Mine is manual-only, and I've never had an issue.

This condition may be due to the HVAC system infrared (IR) temperature sensor that “locks” at one temperature and fails to change. The vehicle may need a replacement IR Temp sensor.

To check to see if the IR Sensor is operating, try to verify that the infrared sensor face is centered to the hole in the overhead console and that the “I/R Sensor On Time” reading changes when a finger is placed over the face of the sensor.
