Aspen Transmission/Transfer Case Question
 

I just bought a 2008 Aspen. Great looking vehicle with only 72,000 miles on it. Have been looking for about 3 months for one. Found plenty of them, but they were very high mileage. It is AWD and I want to change all of the fluids in it. My question is: When changing the tranny fluid do I also have to change the fluid in the transfer case, or, is the transfer case a part of the tranny and it has no drain plug of fill plug and it does not require changing as it is changed when all of the tranny fluid is changed? Any help that you Aspen lovers can give to me will be appreciated. Only had the Aspen for about 5 days, but absolutely love it. Gonna be hauling grandchildren and a camper. Looking forward to a lot of fun!!!!

The transfer case is separate from the transmission and yes, it is serviceable. Since I knew I would be towing as well, one of the first things I did was to swap all my fluids to Amsoil (big time Amsoil fan). So not only did I do the oil and transmission, I did the transfer case and both front and rear differentials. The transfer case does use ATF as well so that helps. The front and rear uses two different gear oil weights. Front uses 75W-90. Rear uses 75W-140 and requires 4 oz of Mopar Limited-Slip additive.
