Default Engine stalls when coming to a stop

Hi. I have a 2007 5.7L Aspen. Over the past few months, its been stalling occasionally when I come to a stop. Other times when I stop, the rpm`s drop down to the point of stalling before coming back up to normal. It seems to be worse in colder weather. At one point in the winter the engine light came on, but before I got a chance to get to the garage, it went off again on its own, and hasn't come back on since. Any ideas as to the problem? Is it some type of sensor? Thanks.

Our 2007 Aspen with 4.7L had the same issues, dying at a red light, but restarting (fortunately!!). It turned out to be a bad battery and bad terminal connections.

If you have the original battery in the vehicle still, I would agree with Randy and start there. If the vehicle isn't getting the proper amount of electricity all kinds of strange things can happen.

Thanks for the tip. It is the original battery. However, I've had no problems starting with it, even in -20C weather. I probably should replace it though. It is 7 years old. Any other possible causes I should look at?

Default 2008 aspen stalling

I too have this issue I just purchased a 2008 Chrysler aspen and love it but this is bothering me while driving if I come to a stop light or sign it will go to really low rpms and either correct itself or it will die. when it dies it starts up fine and will get me a few miles before happening again I tried the new battery with clean connections it seemed to want to correct itself better but in the end its still stalling same thing if I go from drive to reverse it does the same thing. Any help would be great and please let me know if you correct your problem

This may not be the issue but I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee where this happened and it turned out to be the ECM. I guess if you have tried the batteries, which is a great first step, I would check the ECM.

I have an 08 Aspen and it has stalled on me a few times. I know mine isn't the battery or the connectors cause those were just changed recently. I talked to someone about it and they are thinking it is my throttle body position sensor. And what's crappy about it is the fact that you have to completely replace the throttle body. And of course its a dealer only part. Maybe this will help.

Hi. I haven't solved the issue yet, but I may be getting closer. A mechanic told me that is could be a dirty throttle body. When I get a chance, I'll give it a cleaning. I'll let you know if this does the trick.

Default 08 Aspen stalling

My aspen was sitting for months before I got it so some people told me that could have been the issue. Also people said it could have been the dirty throttle body so I did a tune up new plugs oil change new air filter and I cleaned the throttle body. It didn't do it as often but it still stalled I then put 89 octane gas in it because I didn't know any better and was running 87 in it and between that and the tune up and driving for a while now it rarely stalls it still idles down real low occationaly but for the most part it is running much better. Also I put champion plugs in it and the ones I pulled out are champions so I'm thinking of getting factory plugs and buying new boots for the coil packs and seeing if that helps. But honestly who wants to buy 16 spark plugs from the dealer.
