does anyone know where the Event Data Recorder (EDR) is located?


Does anyone know if this can be disabled or bypassed?

its software and no u can not disable it. This is like asking can u disable or remove an alarm no you cant if U could anyone would. And FYI any one wanting to remove that date is wanting to do something they are not suppose to legally.

a EDR is like having a camera recording your every mile you drive.
no one wants that.

Wait till they put GPS receivers in all vehicles so they can track your every move. The EDRs are just a precursor to more intervention in our vehicles.

mmmm no the so called event data recorder is for the PCM to learn how you drive and adapt it to best handle the fuel management of the system. Chrysler has had this tech in there cars since 1995 well before gps. The only thing that even records speed of anything would be the Air bag system and that info is not even suitable in a court of law its only used for testing purposes when they want to see how it deploys on a crash. All the data is also flushed out or rolled out every 40 drive cycles.

Is EDR necessary in vehicles? National Highway Transportation Safety Administration required the car manufacturers to put EDR in all new cars. The purpose of this device is to determine the details surrounding a car crash. Through a service like OnStar, it can save your life by notifying authorities in the event of a crash. MMM chrysler does not use on start system You are confusing two different systems. The one he questioned was ones used by the computers to make decisions based on how u drive. Not weather or not you are doing 100 down a windy road if u want to kill your self no car company is going to stop you.
