Default Exhaust Manifold Gaskets

Wife was hearing loud ticking noise when driving. Took a look and the Exhaust manifold gaskets are falling apart. It is leaking on pass. side. Nuts look very bad(rusty). How hard are these gaskets to change? It has the Hemi.

There's a TSB about bolt(s) shearing on the exhaust manifold, which is usually the cause of the ticking sound.

The manifold gaskets are part numbers 53013944AA (right) and 53013943AA (left). It pays about 2.7 hours to do the right bank, and 3.0 hours to do the left bank.

All of this assumes you have the Hemi engine...you didn't specify. If you have the 4.7L, there are videos on youtube that'll help with replacement.

Yea have the Hemi. Bolts look really bad. Watched the videos. Knowing my luck the bolts will be broke off even with the head. We do have the lifetime powertrain warranty. Will that cover the repair at the dealership?

Some people have had luck getting the repair done under the lifetime powertrain warranty, and others have not. If you've been having other work done at the dealer, you probably have a better chance of getting it covered.

Talked to dealer Fri. Repair is covered. They have all parts for repair. Can't get it fix until the 20th because of chevy recalls(Chevy dealership also).

purplepuller,

Happy to hear your dealer is getting this sorted for you.
It's a good time to be a Chrysler owner that's for sure.

Aspen Was repaired this past week. Gasket was bad on pass. side. took a while to fix ,according to repair receipt looks like some bolts broke off in the head. Had a CEL on so had it checked out and the part cost $20 and labor was over $200.
