Headrest Monitors, MyGig
I added two 7" Headrest Monitors to the MyGig M.E.S.
At first, I didn't want to tie in the headrest monitors to the MyGig. The pair of headrest monitors I got off Ebay ($350 for the pair, with shipping) come with DVD players integrated. They have video in and video out so you can connect one to the other and see one DVD on two screens. The problem I had was with the audio. There is no good option to hear the sound. The options are: Infared headphones, hard wired headphones, AUX IN,or use theFM transmitter. The infared headphones don't sound good at all and there are only two. For an eight passenger vehicle I can't imagine wiring up so many headphones. The FM transmitterallows 7 frequencies between 87 and 89 MHz and all get interference. The FM transmitter option sounds bad most of the time. I could run a cable between the headphone port to the AUX in on the MyGig. The problem is this cable would be visible, sticking outin front of the radio.
I decided to hard wire the MyGIG video out to the headrest monitors to use the sound system for DVD sound. I found some mygig pinouts on a jeep forum and succesfully added a video out RCA cable to the MyGIG radio. I added a 4 way video distribution amp that works on 12V. I installed the amp just below 12V accessory outlet below the radio. I took the 12V for the monitors and amp from the back of that 12V outlet.
The final outcome was excellent. No visible wires. The 3 screens display the DVD if the vehicle is in Park. If the vehicle is in reverse, I have the backup camera on the main display and the DVD on the two back monitors. When the vehicle is in drive the DVD is displayed on the headrest monitors only. When you bring up the touch pad controls, they only appear on the MyGIG screen.

Thanks for sharing this. I’ve been contemplating adding a video monitor to my 07’ Aspen and love your video set-up.
I wonder if I can install a Mygig system in my 07, since the 08’s are similar. Does anyone know if this is possible?

If you buy a Mygig new from the dealer, you can install it yourself. The Mygig has the following connectors:
FM radio antenna (white in my photo)
Sat antenna (yellow in my photo)
C1 connector only used if you have Uconnect (center - not present in my photo)
C2 speakers/amp connections (gray in my photo)
C3 Audio/Video for rear entertainment and reverse camera (white in my photo)
If you don't have rear video, reverse camera you don't need the C3 connector. If you want to do the video out mod described above, you can just connect to the 2 pins you need on the C3 connector. This could be done with a modifiedCD Rom to Motherboard cable. When I disconnected my C3 connector I could get video out just by connecting up to the 2 pins that carry video.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm excited to hear about the MyGig for the 07' model. If they don't release that soon, I may have to attempt to install one like skyweb.
The first person to see the 07' version ship should letthe forumknow ASAP.
