MDS issues - lifters

Greetings,

I've got issues with my MDS selenoids which are going bad one after the other.

now I dont really care for MDS as I have never noticed a worthwhile difference in MPG.

I found some conflicting information on the web about using block off plugs instead of replacing the selenoids.

Can you use the block off plugs, leave the existing MDS lifters and disable MDS using a programmer and be done or do I HAVE to change the lifters for non MDS ones ?

thanks

Simon

I have never heard of these "block off" plugs so I cannot answer for those. However, I can confirm that you can use a programmer to disable the MDS and leave the solenoids in place. I recently did this myself. After having a continuous issue with MDS #6 which would of failed me on inspection, I purchased a used Diablo Intune 2 tuner from a member on this site and tuned my Aspen to a 93 octane tune with the MDS disabled. No more check engine light, no more cylinder deactivation and vehicle passed inspection. Since Diablo has come out with a couple of new tuners, the older tuners are being offered up for sale at a cheaper price.

Here is a good deal for a Trinity, which is what I use.
