Here is an off the wall kind of question to go along with this.

Is there a way to see what the "oil change" reminder is? I try my best to change mine every 3000 no matter what and I write down all service in the book and I also have a maintenance spreadsheet that I keep all records in and it seems like my reminder comes on before 3000 miles.

Realistically most cars and trucks these days are built to go 6 to 12k miles before requiring an oil change. It doesn't hurt to change it more frequently but it does cost more. I usually change mine around 8-10k and never have I had any issues.
