p406 code

Hello I have a 07 chrysler aspen 5.7
Today my engine light went on I cleared it. But when I checked it. It said p406. What can this be? I read a few post online saying it could be a bad egr valve. Does anyone have a idea what it can be.

Thanks

Yeah, that's typically the EGR valve. Rarely it's the PCM.

I keep getting evap code also. They are changing out the esim and nvld tomorrow. Do you think it could be egr?

I'm not sure I understand your question, but P0406 should either be the wiring for the EGR, the EGR itself, or the PCM (rarely).

EGR and the evap system are separate systems

Does the egr save you on mpg. If it does I will replace it anyway it's is 60.00 from napa with the gasket kit and it looks easy to get to and change.

Thanks

In most vehicles, the EGR causes the car to pollute less and get slightly better gas mileage. The net benefit depends on the design of the system.

plus if there was an issue with teh EGR u would get a code if no dont bother with replacing something that is working.
