Clunk in driveline when slowing down to about 25 mph
Developed a clunk in driveline (again) when slowing down. Clunk occurs at about 25 mph.
Clunk originally started about eight or ten months ago. Checked this forum and found other people also has had problem.
Forum advised was a software problem and that there was a fix for it. Went to dealer, knew nothing about fix. After about 10 minutes of explaining about this forum knowing a fix, they finally went and checked.
Service tech came back after about 30 or 45 minutes and stated found software fix and it was installed. Clunk was gone when tested.
Now the problem. Clunk came back almost two months ago.
Question. Is it common for the clunk to come back so soon?
Is it common for the clunk to come back?

Personal opinion is play between gears. May be in one or both of differentials or transfer case. Mine has also started again but not as bad as original clunk.
Have you checked fluid level? Changed fluids?
I am planing to go back to dealership and have software reset.
Am thinking about changing to synthetic in differentials, transfer case, and transmission. As only have 54K miles on odometer, may help keep Aspen running.
