Service Rear Park Assist Message
 

I have a 2007 Aspen that I replaced the "bad" rear park assist sensor that the dealer said was bad. I disconnected the battery thinking maybe I needed to do that to reset the message, but it still says "service rear park assist." The dealer wanted wanted $400 to replace a 3 minute job and a $60 sensor.
Is there a way to either troubleshoot myself, and/or a way to reset the message?

I'm not a tech, but it sounds to me like the fault needs to be cleared. Many auto parts stores will read and clear codes for free - might be worth a shot. If you get the message after that, something's obviously still wrong.

Were you able to buy the sensor in the same color as the bumper, or did you have to paint it?

Here's the problem with going to the "Local" auto parts store. The closest one is 60 miles away for us. Yes, we live in the middle of nowhere.

They come in black, so you will need to have them painted. I have not yet.

I did a quick Google search and found the following discussion on clearing codes on a 2002 Dodge Ram. It's possible this works on newer vehicles as well:

To clear the check engine light on a 2002 Dodge Ram once the problem is resolved. Start the engine and drive forward then in reverse (you only have to move the truck a few feet in each direction) the turn the ignition off. Do this sequence three times. When you start the vehicle the fourth time the check engine light should go out.” (This procedure may well work on other vehicles.)
