Speaker Impedence

What is the OHM rating for the '07 Aspen speakers - standard radio with nav system?

The speakers need to be upgraded, or should I just rip out the whole system and start over? What has anyone else done?

Mine were 4 ohm, but I have the Alpine Stage 1. I was pleased with the sound, except for the dash speakers. I replaced them, and now I'm much happier. The mids in the doors actually look (and sound) pretty good for OE. I need to add some sound deadening to the doors -- to cure vibrations. Chrysler has 0 (at least in the rear door -- I haven't checked the front). I may add a small sub/amp later, but there's no good place to put a sub in mine, and it involves an expensive adaptor for the pre-outs. I thought of doing a sub in the rear floor compartment, but then I lose that space for tools, everything else.

Thanks for that.

As far as the sub, if you don't use the third seat, how about behind the second row of seats on the floor?

^ We use the 3rd seats a lot. This leaves no room for subs w/o sacrificing precious cargo space. The Alpine system has decent bass from the mids, but a sub would add a lot. I might be able to cram a small (shallow) one under one of the second row seats, and hide the amp in the small storage compartment (rear floor).

Has anyone taken off the plastic interior panels in the rear to see how much room is under there? There could be a lot of space in there, enough for an amp maybe. The few SUV's I have had and seen always seem to have some cubbys and compartments built into those panels. Why the Aspen doesn't makes me wonder...

Yeah, I thought about that. I don't think there's much room on the driver's side due to the motor for the hatch. I wouldn't want to put an amp in there -- as you often need access to an amp. I'd be more interested in hiding a slim sub back there. There's really very little cubby space in the Aspen. Luckily, the center console is quite large.
