Throttle Body Cleaning
My truck has nearly 70k miles on it, and I'm thinking about cleaning the throttle body. Any special tricks, other than removing the resonator, unplugging a couple of electrical connectors, and spraying away with a TB cleaner?
I just did this today on my other vehicle, and it made a big difference in idle quality and responsiveness. |
get spray that is designed for TB and wont eat the plastic and sensors.

Thanks ChryslerTech. I kept the plastic stuff away from the TB cleaner, and did use a dedicated cleaner. I was a little nervous about that, as I've heard that there's a TSB for Hemi engines to only use brake cleaner on TBs. Maybe that's for older models (I hope). I was amazed at how clean the TB was for a truck with nearly 70k miles. Very little carbon compared to others I've seen, and no sticking.
When I unplugged the clip on the connector at the TB, the red piece went flying. I think I have it back on there properly, but I wasn't impressed with the design! |
just a lock so the connector wont wiggle out of place
