Would like to have some information on a service that my tech was going to schedule on my last trip. He informed me I was overdue a trans flush and after quoting a price I agreed to go ahead and include it with the plug replacement. Later he comes back and tells me that a filler tube or something of that description had broken off and would not be able to perform the service and would require a complete removal. He finds out the part is not covered by warranty currently at (95,000mi) and I would have to pay for the labor and part. ($950-1050) excluding the infusion which would be an additional $159. Is this flush absolutely required?? He informed me I may never have any further problem until maybe a crash or wreck would start leaks etc. I don't know if it voids warranty without a flush. Need some input please. Thanks! !

Unless you're on the severe schedule, trans flush and filter isn't required until 120k miles on the 2008. I don't have a manual for the 2007, but I'm guessing you do and could find this information in there without much problem.

The filler tube broke off? It sounds like he broke it to me, particularly if it hasn't been serviced before...did you check out the problem and confirm that there's an issue?

There's an outside chance they're being honest, but it sounds to me like you're getting hosed.

Personally I don't believe in a fluid *flush*. I haven't done mine yet due to lower mileage, but when I do in the next 10,000 miles I will first perform a pan drop. Then I will drain the remaining fluid and add a new filter. While the pan is off I will add a drain plug. Drive the vehicle a week and the next weekend I will open the drain plug, drain the fluid again, reinstall the plug, add fluid, check the level and continue on my way. Next time way in the future when I have to do this I will just drain the fluid.

Forgot to mention to use the proper fluid, ATF+4. Do not use a "generic" fluid or a "universal" fluid.

To all here who replied to my question a Big Thanks. I believe as I researched further that unless the vehicle is used as a taxi, police, commercial etc. than a flush is not required. I agree with 15951a\ in that it was accidentally broken but I'm to pay for their mishap. When I do require a top off you're right about the ATF+4 to be used(tinman)
