2005 Crossfire Stalling without warning
3 times in the last 5 weeks the engine has completely shut down without warning (once going 75 mph on the highway and the other 2 times at a stoplight). Once I coast to a safe stopping point, I have to put the car in park, turn off the ignition and restart, which it does immediately. I have taken it into Carmax and a Chrysler dealership and they cannot find anything wrong or recreate the problem. This is such a safety hazard I am afraid to drive my own car :-( Please help!!

no codes where in the computers? Which carmax did u take it to?
|
Both Carmax (at Garland, Texas) and the Chrysler dealership both said that there were no stored error codes in the computer. One mechanic suggested that when I restarted the car that the error code could have been reset.

engine crank sensor ? , was the car hot ?
|
Was the car warmed up every time this happened?

TNtech,
Hey I live in TN and have a 2008 Crossfire but NONE of the Chrysler dealers around here were ever Crossfire dealers so I have no Crossfire Techs either. What city/dealership do you work at because I may need you to work on it ? No dealerships around me will even touch them. That really sucks. |
Sounds like the crankshaft position sensor. Check these two discussions of the CPS and RCM:

well after being in the shop 5 times, Carmax took it to another dealership who replaced the crankshaft sensor and 2 other sensors and so far so good. fingers crossed!

lit seems like a big trouble
|
I had the sensor modual replace. Not sure what it is but I was told it was the diagnostic brain. That fixed the problem 5 years ago on my 2004.
