Gear Change problem

Just done the first 400 miles in my new 08 Crossfire but I am having problems making a smooth gear change when going up the box (Manual that is). The engine revs do not drop when the accelerator is released in fact they increase very slightly for a moment before the revs fall slowly away. This causes the clutch to snatch as it disengages making the change a little jerky. The local dealership said that it was a common fault with many Chrysler models particularly the Crossfire and the PT Cruiser and they seem to think that I should learn to put up with it or have bought the auto version in the first place.
I have discovered that the only way to make a smooth change is to release presure on the accelerator for a fraction of a second before depressing the clutch, as the engine does not slow down there is no deceleration and the clutch disengages smoothly but it does slow down the gear change process and is quite difficult to do consistently.
Does anyone else have a similar experience and/or a cause of the problem?
Tony
