'04 FWD Has slight sway left to right???

I just bought an 04 Fwd and noticed that it has a slight swaying left to rock(kind of rocking) to it when driving, you might hit an imperfection in the highway and the car will sway left to right???? Any help would be greatly appreciated. As I try to fix my problems myself.
Thanks,
Mellissa

RE: '04 FWD Has slight sway left to right???

If there are no creaks or groans, then it may be an alignment problem. While an alignment is being done, have the rest of the suspension components checked for abnormal wear.

A car's body/chassis sits in a "spring" cradle (all the various suspension components). If it is sitting balanced within this cradle, then it handles nicely. If it is off-center because of component wear in the suspension system, then it may be sitting leaned to one side or one corner of the body. When you maneuver in a way that makes the car lean towards that "heavy" corner, the movements happen noticeably faster in that direction.

Hope this helps. ;)

First check to make sure all your tires are inflated properly. That's easy and cheap and you'd be surprised how much of a difference proper tire inflation can make. A loose tie-rod end can also make the car sway or pull from side to side. Tie-rod ends are fairly easy to replace yourself. Other ball joints may be beyond the usual DIY mechanic's ability.

Thanks, I just put 2 new tires on the front, b/c when we bought the car, someone had put 2 smaller tires on the front. I will check that they are properly inflated, however, it feels like something more, it rocks left to right when driving. Thanks for all help.
