05 Pacifica AWD vs FWD tranny
 

The tranny in my 2005 3.5L AWD Pacifica went kaput last week and I wonder if I can have a mechanic replace it with a FWD tranny instead of an AWD... I don't need AWD and it will save me $1000.... but I bet it's not that easy, or even compatible. Does anyone know?

I don't think you can interchange the units. A quick look up on Chrysler Parts Direct shows choices for with and without AWD. Oddly enough, the list price for the NON-AWD is actually $900 more.

Sorry for your trouble. I would encourage you to call around and make sure you are getting a fairly consistent story before you select who to go with.
