2004 Pacifica heater blower fix
 

Just wanted to let anyone interested know how I fixed my 04 Pacifica heater blower problems. I read everything I could find online and 90% said to change the blower resistor, well I did that and when I put the new one in, the blower would not shut off, sometimes it would stay on after I had removed the key! I tried putting the old one back on and it worked until I turned the car off, then wouldn't come back on, again put the new resistor on and fan would not shut off or allow me to change the speed. I finally pulled the battery ground for 30 seconds reconnected it, put the old resistor back on..... now everything works perfect and I get to take the new one back and get my $70 back. :)

U did not fix anything all u did if anything was reset the AC control if anything it will more then likely come back.

Sadly, you are correct. I've since replaced the resistor and the fan started working, but made a screeching noise when starting the car, now the fan is stuck on high. Does it sound like the fan bearing is going out?

Do you think the resistor will need to be replaced again, once the blower has been replaced?

I still haven't gotten around to fixing mine yet (as you've provided good insight on another topic about it), but there seems to be an issue with the blower motor maybe passing through too much power (amps?), causing the resistor to short.

I had the problem, purchased a new resistor pack. It lasted for about six months. I bought another one, thinking before I really dug into it, that spending $70 every six months was OK, but it only lasted for three days. The guess a former Chrysler tech (not you :) ) is a faulty blower motor.

So aside from my blend door issue (the earlier topic), I'm going to have to replace my blower motor and resistor pack. I'm trying to find parts at junk yards. Not having much luck yet.
