2004 Pacifica Radio Replacement Help Needed
Just purchased a 2004 Pacifica with only 50,000 miles.
I'm looking to "upgrade" the factory CD Player.
The current factory radio has CD + Tape deck. It also has the 6 disc DVD/CD changer (no LCD screen however). Infinity system with Subwoofer (Factory).
I have a double-din radio that I would like to install. Getting the double-din unit to fit is not an issue as I feel confident in this.
I'm confused as to what type of wiring harness I will need to make this work. I cannot use a standard one as I've been told I have a factory amplifier. Also I've been told I have a R.A.P. system because the radio stays on after I pull my key out of the ignition and open the door.
Can anyone help me out and point me in the right direction? I just need to know where I can order a harness from and what harness to get.

I have an 06 and just did this same "upgrade". I installed a double din unit and kept the factory amplifier. I had to purchase a module from Metra. Part number was CHO2-02. It's a bit pricey, but it's pretty advanced too. They have recently upgraded it, so make sure you go to the metra website and look at the picture and compare against any vendor you intend to use (as the old model didn't allow for fading I believe). Hope that helps.
You can get a lot of information at Crutchfield. Select car audio and then "find what fits". Select a head unit similar to what you want to install, and then read the installation notes and limitations. I have also had folks call them and simply ask to buy what they need to install a given head unit - by make and model number. Crutchfield sends very good installation instructions including directions to remove trim etc. In general I find them a bit more expensive but I have had very, very good customer service and tech support from them.
