2007 Power Transfer Unit (PTU) service

Anybody have the details on how to perform the fluid service?

Elsewhere I found instructions on how to do the earlier models, but 07/08 is different.

Got the job done. What a PITA!

The PTU is encased in heat shields, and surrounded by exhaust pipes.

Drain plug is relatively easy to access, but the fill plug is darn near impossible. Not for the faint of heart.

What fluid did you use? I never got to do this on my 04.

75W 90 gear oil in both PTU and rear diff.

I believe pre-07 (w/3.8L) used ATF in the PTU.

Actually, the pre-07's are the same. ATF only goes in the front portion(over-running clutch) of the rear carrier. Same PITA for accessing the PTU fill plug however.

Good job getting it done.
