2mpg increase
 

My engine had a weird "whine" to it (varied with RPM), took it to a dealer, they couldn't hear it. I took the engine cover off and heard it by the alternator. I took it to a different dealer and they found it was the alternator. They said nothing was wrong with it, other than noisy. I had them replace it and my avg MPG went up from 18 to 20. Must have been dragging or something.

Just maybe the alternator was not putting out enough to give the spark plugs enough spark to fully ignite the fuel.[sm=goodidea.gif].
