Ambient Temperature Sensor
 

i have on 05 pacifica touring, with all the options... well minus the Blue tooth...

I'm really tired of the outside temperature reading on the inside display reading -40. I can't turn on the the darn thing without it trying to heat the entire car. Now if I live in Alaska I wouldn't mind. But I live in Southern California. Temperature is on average 70 degrees.

Does anyone know exactly where the temperature sensor is located and is it replaceable?

-40 is the default reading for a lost Buss message....

Try this.....Disconnect BOTH battery cables, count to ten, then touch them together. reinstall and check the display.

The sensor is mounted on a small plastic bracket behind the grille.. But , aside from a defective sensor, there could be wiring issues, module issues, communication issues, or any combination of the above. There is no cut and dry "Replace the sensor, and all is well". It may very possibly require involved diagnosis to rectify your situation.

Ok here is an update.

I did just like the above posting and the temperature did work correctly for about 30 minutes then it shot down to -40 and started climbing up to the correct temperature. at around +20 degrees it then shot back to -40.

Any clues or ideas?
