Battery

2004 Pac

About 2 weeks ago I killed my battery listening to the radio while waxing my car. Since then my battery keeps dying. Twice yesterday and Twice today. I'm going to go get the battery checked.

Is it my battery or my altenator?

RE: Battery

If you jump it and the car runs fine then it's the battery.

the car starts off the battery and the runs on the alt. If u have a low charger charger u can charger it up over night and it will be fine.

yea the car runs fine after it starts. Now all of a sudden it's been starting fine since last night. No need to jump after jumping it 4 times every time I had to start the car.

When I took it to advance auto parts, they did the battery test. They said they think it's the alternator but really couldn't decide either or. They said take it for a 2nd opinion.

Simple rule of chrysler cars The battery is used to start the car and keep a 12 volt source or state of charge. The alt is what the car really runs on while driving. If u unplug the batt while the car is runing it will stay running. U can do this as well put a jump box on it or something with more then 12 volts start the car, turn on everything u can think of so that the LOAD is high ,lights,ac,radio, inside lights.
What that does is when u start the car the sensors look at currant voltage we will say 12.3 volts. The PCM will set the charging system up so that it will keep the batt at or around the 12.3 volts from startup. and if u have a higher voltage at atartup the pcm will want to keep it there and it will charge back up the battery faster.

Well add to that the fact that the battery Chrysler fit to the Pacifica is HORRIBLE! I ran into the same problems you are describing. It'll die within 40 mins of listening to the radio, or only 20mins of having the interior lights on (like when vaccuming the car). We are def sick and tired of not being able to listen to the radio or have the fans on or any lights with the car off with the fear that the battery's gonna die yet again. Does anyone know of a good battery that has a substantially better charge than the stock one? Of all our car's the Pacifica is the one that would need the battery to remain the longest with sufficient charge. It travels a lot.
Thanks

hehe all the lights on pulls about 10 amps of power so yeah it will drain the battery quick. U can try an interstate. Highter cca gives u standing amps

The Optima batteries are the best. The yellow and red topped are what you will be looking for!
