To buy one or not?

I'm looking to get out of my current vehicle and wanted to get an SUV and I liked what the Pacifica has to offer. I'm currently looking at a black 2006 Limited AWD with 47k miles on it and from what I can tell has all of the options. They have it for $16,500 and I'm thinking I want to get it but what do you guys think? Are there any common issues that I need to be aware of or to look out for when checking the car out? I keep hearing about transmission problems or is that for older models? FWD and AWD? Thanks for your help guys

As far as the tranny concerns go I believe they were mostly found with the AWD models, dont recall the model year.

You may want to look at the '07 Pac. The big change there is they went to a 4.0L engine and 6 speed tranny.

The 6 speed would be a fantastic tranny for the 3.5... Why they chose a 4 speed is beyond me.

Those are the one's I wanted to get. I like the dual exhaust setup even though it's a fake dual exhaust but there are only base model 2007's around here and I wanted black and this is the only black Pacifica within 100 miles of where I live so I'm kinda limited as to what my options are.

I think it was the 07 6 speed torque converters that had the tranny problems. There were module flashes and TC replacements.

Yep, we had the torque converter problem within the first 3,000 miles. Replaced it under warrantee and has worked perfectly ever since (now 38,000).

SImply put: buy any Chrysler car but Fiat 500. It's best policy to save the environment, but not when essence is at question. There are better ways to save fuel, anyway.

Pacifica

Sounds like a reasonable price for the year and miles.

Check into an extended warranty pricing. It might be worth it.

I have a black 2006 touring with most options and I like it alot. I only have 25k miles tho. I would check how much a warranty is. I had to replace the fuel pump right after I got it.

You are right near the limit for a "New" Chrysler warranty. You can buy them as long as you have 4 years or 48k miles since the vehicles in service date. After that they do have Used Chrysler warranties but they are more$$$.

I wouldn't call the Pacifica an SUV.... It's not too sporty and has very little utility. honestly, with all of the issues I have read about I would have never bought ours for my wife, apparently they are all out crap. Ours is okay so far, minus the light flicker, tranny shutter under load, and the dash boards new rattle/squeak. It only has 33,000 miles on it and i really dont ecpect it to live much past 100k at least not in my family, too many people with too many issues , Chrysler should be ashamed of themselves. Don't buy one.

We really enjoyed out 04 and did not really have many issues with it in the 4 years we owned it. It really is a people mover and not much of a cargo mover when you have more than 4 people in the 6 seater. We out grew it quickly.
