Clicking when attempting to start
 

Hello,
Just bought a 2004 Pacifica 6-Cylinder 3.5L V6 24V SOHC.

This doesn't always happen but when it does and I try and start the car it does a really rapid clicking sound (Kind of sounds like when you're stripping a screw head with an electric screw driver). After a few attempts at this it try's to turn over and after some more of the clicking it finally starts, sluggishly though.

Now my question, is this a BATTERY or STARTER or ALTERNATOR problem? any suggestions are appreciated... Thanks a lot,

This happened to me when I got my car first and I had the radio going, it drained the battery just enough for it not to turn over,
but if it starts after a while,maybe loose battery cable?

What you are going to want to do, is go to an auto parts store like Advance or PepBoys or someplace like that.
They should have a battery tester that can be used without disconnecting the battery.
It will put a load on the battery and will tell you if it is weak.
Then, they will have you start the car, and that same tester should show the amount of voltage being sent to the battery.
If both of those test good, then either a starter or bad connection may be the culprit.
Normally tho, a bad starter, once it refuses to start once, will not do the same thing again.

Also ... a weak point in the electrical is the cable connection of the positive side to the fuse box next to the battery. I believe it turned out to be a bad connector end on the cable itself.
