Clunking noise that dealership cant figure out
I have a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. After I had the car for about a year I started to hear a clunking noise. It seems to be coming from the battery compartment under the floorboard. Or maybe it's near the fuel tank.
It wasn't happening every time I drove it, but it happened often. Every time I would take it to the dealer they couldn't replicate it. It seems to happen when the car is driven quite a bit and it gets hot. My hunch is that it is a circulating pump or a fan that is going out. It is now going on probably 2 years of this noise and I still have no answers. The sound is now getting quieter and, again, my hunch is that the part is now really going out and near the end of its life. My fear is that this is a cooling system for the batteries and the batteries are going to overheat and my car will catch fire. I have two young kids and this is a major safety concern for me. I have multiple videos of the noise and I've shared this with the dealership. Has anyone else noticed this noise? It's not super loud but it's a consistent clunk when it does it. I usually don't have music on when I'm driving so I hear it all the time. If I listened to music I probably wouldn't ever notice it. |
