ThePacLady 03-24-2013 04:04 PM

Had a compression test and that's ok.

Djinn-n-Tonic 03-25-2013 04:59 PM

Year????? Engine size????

Why no mention of Spark plugs being replaced???? I cant believe anyone would diagnose a misfire without checking the plugs FIRST. At very least, the one on the affected cylinder.

#1......You CANNOT use aftermarket Ignition coils...The resistance is different...You MUST use the proper MOPAR coil.

#2,,,,,,Champion Spark plugs are a MUST......No bosch, no Splitfire, no E3's , No Autolites.

The system was designed to work around what the factory used. any deviation WILL WREAK HAVOC.

CHRYSLER TECH 03-25-2013 05:21 PM

I second that

ThePacLady 03-26-2013 03:44 PM

The year is 2005. Yes did replace all the spark plugs with NGK Laser platinum. It's 3.5 and brand new coils from the Dealer "SIR". And BTW theres no Negtive pulse.

ThePacLady 03-26-2013 03:50 PM

There's no negative pulse on cylinder #5.

Djinn-n-Tonic 03-26-2013 05:19 PM

2 Attachment(s)

There's no negative pulse on cylinder #5.
Ahh...Thats different. You are either looking for a wiring problem, or a Bad PCM.

Attachment 1603
Attachment 1604

You need to check wiring continuity and resistance between pin 2 of connector c2, and the #5 coil.

Thanks. Good little nugget of info.

I was just cking the wires and there fine. But something caugt my eye. When I was chking the negative pulse it was there then it just went away. Came back and away again. Just for a few seconds. The cars starts fine.

ThePacLady 03-26-2013 05:49 PM

continuity and resistance is good.

ThePacLady 03-26-2013 05:51 PM

Hmmm.....Probably bad PCM.

Djinn-n-Tonic 03-26-2013 07:02 PM

swap coils from cylinder 3 and 5. disconnect the battery, count to 10 and reconnect.

Does the code switch to 303????

Thanks. Good little nugget of info

"SIR"
Dont get me wrong....I wasnt trying to be sarcastic or Cynical.......I have honestly found this to be reasonably true, and I have this SAME conversation, probably 3 or 4 times a week.

For the moment, lets get your pulse back...but those "SUPER-DE-DUPER" platinum "Barn Burners"...Ummm....Sparkplugs, are not exactly the best of choices.

Just be lucky your dealing with the "Front" of the motor....:)

So today is a BEAUTIFUL DAY here in Upstate Ny. Decided to look at the Pac one more time with the diagram that Mrs.Djinn-n-Tonic posted. Many thank to you for helping me fined and solved the problem.
Comes to find out I had a BAD wire from PCM to Coil #5. I chekd a 1,3,and they were fine, then looking at 5 and there was my problem. No continuity.

ThePacLady 03-30-2013 02:12 PM

Ooops! Mr. Djinn-n-Tonic....lol. Thank u again. You were rite!
