Considering purchase of 2007 Pacifica
 

Hi folks,

I've had my eye on a Pacifica for many years now and never pulled the trigger. I've test driven several a few years ago (mostly 3.5L) and liked the car--- seems like you get a lot for the money spent.

On my wish list presently is a 2007-2008 model, loaded with as many features as possible. Base models aren't for me, I understand more things to break, but I can repair my own cars so this is a near non-issue. Fwd or AWD doesn't matter in my climate. 2007-2008 is because of the 4.0L engine with 6 speed transaxle. Is this wise, or is the 3.5L with 4 speed comparable in performance / durability? Trying to keep the vehicle under 150k and $5,000; is this realistic?

Is the Pacifica in general an okay vehicle maintenance/repair wise with around 150k miles, or in your experience does it make a poor choice with lots of things needing repair and/or maintenance? I don't know much about the vehicle, but it's ideally suited for my family because of the small size (we already have a minivan) and 7-seat capacity. AWD would be icing on the cake, or does this invite more problems/issues? The nice ones I've found are around $5k, which is slightly higher than the private party blue book value-- what is a good price? Thank you in advance for any insight you can provide.

You and I are in the same boat and share the same views.I just bought an 07 4.0/62te touring Fwd 7 seater,not a base mode but not fully loaded.I am loving this Pacifica,I am partial to the 4.0/62te because that is what is in my Caravan.I cannot speak for everyone but I think it is great choice for me,because I can handle the repairs myself if/when they arise.
I bought mine cheap with a trans problem,I got the trans repaired and I am very pleased with it.Very roomy,comfortable and easy to drive,and plenty of power for a family vehicle.

I was doing and looking for the exact same thing. I ended up giving on on some features and got a 2006 3.5L with 63k miles on it for 6300. A bit more with dealer fees. But nice condition, and a clean carfax, Locally owned all its life. So your thinking is quite realistic. I learned the AWD is a bit of extra and more frequent maintenance as well, from the owners manual. Got 303,000 miles on my '05 Pac w/ 3.5L. Love the car, love the engine. Plenty performance, has not had any major issues to speak of, outside of usual (timing belt every 100k, oil changes, starter change, alternator change, engine mounts, battery every three years, radiator replacement, recent A/C compressor). Not sure how the 4L behaves. Would shoot for low miles if possible... Good luck and happy hunting!

I have a 2007 with 120k and 4.0 love it,but it is now costing some money. like no heat and no AC now too. love to keep it but do not feel like it is worth the work

Yes this one is the 4.0 with a belt. It has not been changed and I've had some scary high estimates on it. It's a beautiful car but I'm not sure I can swing the purchase and the belt. It's at a dealer, I wish they would fix the belt and kind of roll the cost in!
