Driver side parking brake not working '07 Pacifica

I recently posted asking how to adjust the parking brakes on an '07 Pacifica. It will not hold the vehicle on a hill, and is pretty much useless in all but flat ground. I was pointed to the service manual which helped a great deal, and proceeded with the adjustment.

Unfortunately, it's not the adjustment that's at fault. After pulling both rear wheels off, I discovered the drivers side is not actuating. I can see where the cable enters the knuckle and goes into the actuator mechanism. I can see the end of the cable (presumably right where it should be) and it will retract with application of the parking brake pedal. Unfortunately, it's not pulling on anything. It appears to be a cable end that pulls back, but takes nothing with it. I can't get a good look at it, or determine what exactly it's supposed to apply leverage to as I didn't have time to remove the hubs and get a better look, nor could I make a direct comparison to the other [working] side as I was working on each side independently and only had one wheel off at a time.

Before I go further with this and take anything further apart, has anyone had this problem before? Clearly something is broken on or around the cable end or actuator- curious if this is a common problem and whether I'm looking at a broken cable or if this is more likely something with the brake hardware. I would prefer to have whatever replacement part I need on hand, so I only have to remove the hubs once. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear you still have parking brake issues. Here in flat land country have never used parking brake in 310,000 miles, nor had to work on it. But regarding parts, RockAuto. Those guys have everything from a Parking Brake Hardware Kit for Pac to Full set of Piston Rings for '42 Willys Jeep. Cheap..
