getting error p0456, chrysler pacifica 2006 3.5l. tried a dealer gas cap and did not fix problem. has anyone ever successfully fixed this problem

I just bought 3 months ago a pacifica 2006 3.5lt with 70,000 so far i had to make some repairs already a) catalytic converter replaced under warranty)
b) oil pressure sensor replaced $450.00 from dealer and c)check engine light came 2 days ago i went to auto zone to read the code and shows p0456??????????????

Ok, start here. Remove the air cleaner box. You do this by.

1. Loosten the worm clamps that connect the air box hose to the intake.
2. Remove the bolt holding the air box to the radiator support.
3. Remove the small hose that comes off the front of the air box and goes from the air box to under the intake, I beleive this is the AIR tube.
4. Remove the AIT sensor from the intake hose.
5. Pull up on the air box.

Once removed set the air box a side. Locate the two lines that are wrapped in flex loom and tied to each other that go under the air box. They go from the solenoid that is mounted right next to the horn, behind the right headlight, to the rear of the vehicle. Locate a small 2" rubber hose that connects the front line to the rear line under the air box. Most likely this small hose that connects the two lines has a crack in it because it has been stressed from being stretched over a metal tube. If you replace this, it should fix your 'small leak'.

Reset the code by disconnecting the ground to the battery for a few minutes.

Karfreek, I've been getting the same error code, P0456. I followed your instructions and found the tube under the air filter box. It looked fine and it was air tight. Anyone know of other common places for a leak that might cause p0456?

I also am having the same code. Dealer replaced nvld (?) pump... 20 miles later light again. Replaced gas cap... Light again in 20 miles. I dropped my keys while walking past the passenger door and noticed the pipes from that "two inch hose" to the back are basically crushed.The only time that car has been on a lift in 5k was at the dealer just before the code and light came on. Can anyone tell me the part # for that line so I may order and replace myself? Also, I used to have on my old computer a pdf file that had diagrams and part numbers. Where might i download this again?

I'm having the same issue with my 06 Touring with 113k. The code went on, got a new gas cap but didn't clear the code at the time. Had some problems with the gas pedal and cleaned the troddle. Next time I started the car, the code was gone. 4 days later the code was back on again. I took the gas cap out, cleaned it properly as well the outer gas tank "lip". I'm hoping since the code went off on it's own and then came back that it had something to do with the gas cap being improperly. Any advice?

Hi I will help you fix it for sure because I I had the exact problem and I got it fixed yesterday!
It is hard if you gonna do it by yourself but it is worth the headache!
Because you will need to drop your gas tank down to see it in your eyes!
Because it is, will be the plastic hose on the secondary fuel pump, it is the little Nipple that comes from the fuel pump and connects to the fuel line that coming from the primary fuel pump.
The Nipple cracks over time due to the plastic hose shrinks.
The cracked nipple is on the passenger side back.
Let me know if you find it and fix it
