Pac coming off lease, any bargaing power?

My 2006 Pacficia is going to be coming off lease soon with Chrysler Leasing. Now that Chrysler is getting out of the leasing business, has anybody been able to bargain with them on a lower buy out?

Previous leases I've had with Chrysler showed them to be very inflexible and not in a negotiating mood.

The reason they are getting out of leasing was they were getting stuck with "gas hogs" that they were unable to resell. Since you leased a full sized car, I would think they would not be eager to get it back....

You should have TONS of bargaining power. Find out what these go for at auction, and offer a few hundred more. This will probably be thousands below the residual.

BMW offered to knock $5,000 off the amount for a 5-Series leased by one of the participants in my research. He still rejected the offer. That's a more expensive car, but should give you some idea of what to aim for.

mkaresh is right; you 'should' have tons of bargaining power. But. You won't. I tried 3 different times and they would not even discuss an offer, let alone accept one. Back it goes. I bought a new 2008 Touring, with 12 miles on it, on Sunday, on sale, $11,000.00 off the sticker. Dealer special, only good 'til Sunday midnight .

Keep trying, maybe they'll change their tune. I spoke to one dealer who told me that one off-lease 2004 wholesaled for $5600.00.

Gizmobreaker is correct, MKaresh is wrong. I spoke with Chrysler Financial today and there isn't as much as a penny of wiggle room. They want the full residual or for me to turn it in. When I said I would make an EFT transfer within the hour (for $1000 less) they replied with "no deal".

I only said that you "should." If they were smart, they'd have jumped at your offer. No way they'll be able to sell it for what you offered.

If the other party is acting irrationally, all bets are off...
