Default Pacifica front end clunk / rattle noise

Hi everybody,

We own a 2005 Pacifica we love but there is something who pisses me off. The front end CLUNKS / RATTLES !
That happens at low speed, when driving over small potholes, especially on the passenger side.

The 4 used Pacificas I drove, all of them did the same thing.

Was somebody able to get rid of this "feature", or I am stuck with it forever ?

Thanks

There are a lot of TSB's for front end noise on Pacificas. They range from lower control arms, to PTO units that make clicking noises. The sway bar links and struts make noise on them. I would go to a dealer if your still under warranty.

typical wearable item............................. front strut bump stop's or jounce stop's.
in the boot on the strut you will find the issue.
the TSB related pays very good even under warranty. MOST dealers have the set of chassis ear's or electronic ears that make finding the issue very simple.

if i had noise in a CS front end i would do....................Lower Control Arms, Links & Bushings, Bump Stops, and if AWD i would do PTO....

all these parts we keep very large amounts of in stock at all times.

good luck...

I just noticed a strange noise in the 05 Pacifica that we just bought. I can only hear it when turning, particularly to the left. It is a clicking/flapping sound. I originally thought that it was coming from the back of the vehicle, but since it only occurs when steering, I am almost sure that the sound is traveling from the front end of the vehicle (sorry, it is hard to determine). I am going to take it to the dealership since it's still under warranty, but was wondering if anyone could contribute with some TBS to be used as guidelines.

Thanks in advance for your help

Since they do use CV shafts, they could be binding.

Just as a follow up... it turns out that the problem was the rear differential requiring "normal" service. The noise was indeed coming from the back of the vehicle, and itis now completely gone...

I mentioned some clucking I was hearing when I had my car in for service -- turns out the strut assembly was defective and had to be completely replaced. They said there was a bulletin on it. Thatwarranty I boubht just (almost) paid for itself!
