Passenger side front floor soaked. Leak spots? Drain locations?
 

Carpet under the floor mat saturated. Not wet under seat or beside/behind. Carpet up firewall dry too. Removed some trim pieces and folded carpet back, nothing is wet. Water could be trickling in and running behind layers on firewall to the carpet at low spot. Also removed windshield wipers and rain tray to look for leaves/debris etc. A few little leaves but didn't appear to be plugging anything.

Could not locate any drains for sure. A couple spots that may have been drain holes, so poked around with a wire, no leaves or anything. Are body drain holes underneath exterior plastic trim at base of fender by bottom of door?

Any common spots water comes in?

Did not run a hose on it yet. Left it apart w/ windows down and heater on inside garage overnight to dry out so we have a better chance of spotting water leaking in tomorrow when we hit it with a garden hose.

Any tips appreciated!

After hours of testing drains and seals with a garden hose w/ trim removed and carpet folded back I figured the only difference is that I'm driving with the engine on and fan running.

Engine running, fan on high, hose on the windshield aaaannd... water gushing in!!! Streaming through the fan. It MUST be sucking in through the fan air intake!!! Friend coming over to figure things out from here in terms of accessing, diagnosing and repairing. Could be a plugged drain or debris stuck somewhere and can't access under hood gotta be behind glove box. Don't wanna take things off unnecessarily etc but glad to be closer to a solution one at least one pita problem.

Updating in case this thread ever helps anyone else.

It looks like someone replaced something in there at some point (heater fan maybe?) as it doesn't look like factory spray foam sealing the intake thru the firewall. It's possible there's a part or two missing, like a cover and or filter, that are supposed to keep water out. Won't know without diagrams. Also can't dismantle without a manual.

A drain may also be plugged, too. Can't access it and need a book for instructions. It may be that some water is expected to draw in but is supposed to drain out, but can't.

Gonna call/go to a dealer to find out if the dealer books are the same for all models or different for AWD before buying a set online.

In the meantime I used a carpet cleaner to suck up the water and have a plastic coffee can propped securely in place to catch water that drips through the fan.

Look in the engine compartment on the firewall. You should see a rubber hose that comes out of the firewall, bends down and ends, not connected to anything else. Massage it gently with your hand. Most probably, stuff will come out. It's the drain for the plenum. The end of the tube is molded flat, but squeezing it will cause it to open and let the crud fall out. If you can get it cleared, it should solve your problem.

That one closer to the drivers side? Checked it, it's clear. Unless you're talking about some other hose? Where on the firewall?

There's another drain hose sticking out of the firewall about half way down on the passenger side. I think it's plugged. Can't figure out how to access it behind the dash/glovebox.

I think there's also another drain line that runs under the carpet. Again need to find more info about where this runs from and to.

Just ordered manual book set from eBay a few mins ago. Should have them in a couple weeks.
