Rear bumper oxidation 2008 Pacifica
 

Anyone else have this issue with their Pacifica? Unfortunately I waited until it was time for my 3000 mile oil change to mention the bumper and it was 1000 miles over warranty and they won't fix it. Its been this way for months but I thought I just needed to wash it or I could rub it off. I didn't want to put anything on it and didn't since I don't know much about cars. I took it to Chryslers repair man and he said it should be replaced, that it was a factory defect, but after a month of phone calls, we were told it was our problem. It looks really bad and makes the car look old.

I have never had a Chrysler before and have loved this car but have soured on the customer service. Any thoughts?

I would say you should have told them before the warranty ran out. It's not Chrysler's fault.

Suzanne, is this rear bumper oxidation on the TOP of the rear bumper ? If it is , you can get an aftermarket black rear bumper "scuff pad" that you can put on yourself . It basically is a rubber self adhesive pad that would cover the top and a little of the back of the rear bumper. I have one on my 2004 Pac , it helps with not scratching the rear bumper when you are loading heavy things into the cargo area.

I got it from Mopar accessories, and put it on myself.

I use one of the "plastic" conditioner products from the auto parts store; the stuff that they sell for interior and exterior body parts.

It cleans the rear bumper oxidation right up on my bumper pad on my '05 Pac and lasts for a month or so. Also use it for the lower body panels (plastic) and all the other exterior black plastic body parts.

Mine did the same thing. It looks faded. I have had good success using a quality vinyl and rubber product I got a www.properautocare.com I use it about every 4-6 weeks an it looks fine. Hope this helps
