Rear Electric Lift Hatch
 

2010 Chrysler Town and Country. Electric Hatch Lift and Electric Latch. Lift works fine. The Latch is also electric. Mine locks, unlocks, locks and unlocks.....then is it down but not latched and the wind suck it open. All I have found is replacing the entire rear latch assembly. Is there another remedy???????

Hi Ron, is this a pacifica or a T&C Van? There is a forum page for the vans. BUT to answer your question, as it happened to my T&C during the winter, it is the rear liftgate electric handle that is messed up. I cut and capped the 2 wires to it and just use the fob or inside switch for now. At least it is not doing as you post of anymore.
EDIT: but mine is an older 04 generation model, yours may be different!

It is a Town and Country and it is a later model.....my actual rear handle is only a (cable) to the latch assembly...no electric

I have reported this thread for a move to the Town & country Van page by admin, so it should show up there soon.
I know that some years had troubles with the remote fobs causing all kinds of weird things happening and am pretty sure there was a recall on them for replacement, MAYBE yours might fall into this category???? Something electrical is definitely activating the actuator for the liftgate.
